Welcome,

to Richard Samuelson DOT COM, the website of the abstract expressionist painter.

His most recent works are large, almost dangerously energetic and complex paintings in black and white; they have both a strong physical presence and an uncommon ability to elicit an emotional response.

Of these paintings, the critic Leon Klein has said: . . . the ultimate impression is, I think, the closest view we've yet had of the mind itself using its grand powers to go about the everyday dirty business of surviving and embracing the human condition . . . So in the end, we are compelled to believe that these are indeed paintings that both tear at the gut and move the spirit. And for those of us who doggedly hold tight to the faith-driven notion that abstract expressionism is not some long deceased relic of ancient times, but a great voice whose manifest destiny is yet unfulfilled -- for us, these paintings are like actually finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
